(A keresőoptimalizálás és SEO árak Budapesten) Kezdetben a weboldalaknak a találati listákban (ezek neve angolul Search Engine Results Page, rövidítve SERP) elért helyezése attól függött, hogy milyen minőségű volt az adott weboldal által közölt tartalom és hogy milyen témához kapcsolódott (mivel adott esetben már maga a témaválasztás is meghatározhat egyfajta minőséget), valamint hogy milyen kulcsszavakra optimalizálták azt a létrehozói (ez utóbbi szempont magától értetődően az oldalak imént említett témájához is kapcsolódik, viszont az esetleges, témától független manipulációnak is helye volt benne, a keresőprogramokat üzemeltető cégek szándéka ellenére).

                Aztán később, ahogy egyre több tapasztalat gyűlt össze, egyre inkább azt is elkezdték figyelembe venni a keresőprogramok rangsoroló algoritmusai, hogy egy adott oldal mennyire népszerű az internetezők körében, azaz milyen a látogatottsága.

                A rangsorolási algoritmusok evolúciójának következő jelentősebb lépése az volt, amikor elkezdték azt is figyelembe venni, hogy az adott oldalon mennyi időt töltenek el a látogatók (tehát hogy pl. nem csak odatévedtek-e, ami nagy különbség ahhoz képest, mint amikor az oldal valóban az, amire a látogatói a találati listában megjelenő címéből és rövid ismertetőjéből következtetnek, és ennek köszönhetően, amennyiben a tartalma is minőségi, le is köti az említett látogatók figyelmét, hosszabb ideig „marasztalva” őket). És a dolog nem merült ki ennyiben, mert az utóbbi két szempontot (tehát az oldalak népszerűségét, azaz látogatóik számát, valamint a látogatások átlagos idejét) összevontan, egyszerre is figyelték, aminek a gyakorlatát azonban a keresőoptimalizálás értői, a keresőoptimalizálás ill. SEO szakemberek, ún. robotok segítségével ki tudták játszani, ezáltal időnként a valóságot nem kellő hűséggel tükröző helyezési sorrendet eredményezve a találtai listákban, ami a szabályokat kijátszó (pontosabban ez akkor még nem kifejezett kijátszást jelentett, hanem pusztán a kiskapuk felkutatását és kihasználását) weboldal tulajdonosok számára jó volt, az interneten különféle dolgokat keresgélők érdekeivel viszont ellentétben állt – úgy gondoljuk, hogy ez nem is szorul különösebb magyarázatra.

                Még további idő elteltével, a fent említett hibák tanulságait levonva és azokat a gyakorlatba átültetve, a keresőprogramok gyártói olyan módon feljesztették tovább az organikus (magyarul természetes, azaz az internetezők hozzáállását, szokásait tükröző) találati listák szóban forgó sorrendjét meghatározó algoritmusaikat, hogy felvették a szempontok közé a mindenféle külső oldalakról a rangsorolandó oldalakra irányuló hivatkozások számát, ezzel együtt figyelembe véve azt is, hogy az említett linkeket tartalmazó oldalak tartalmilag és a fent felsorolt egyéb szempontok szempontjából milyen minőségűnek számítanak. A Magyarországon ma már az összes többi versenytársa előtt több testhosszal piacvezető Google már 1996-ban elkezdte ennek a módszernek a használatát, vélhetően ezzel is megalapozva mai vezető pozícióját, ami nem csak Magyarországra érvényes, hanem – ha nem is mindenhol olyan mértékben, mint nálunk – csaknem az egész nyugati világra.

                A Google fent említett egyeduralma miatt Magyaroszágon ma a keresőoptimalizálás tulajdonképpen a Google algoritmusainak (a keresőoptimalizálás ismerői, a seo szakemberek ezt jól tudják) kedvében járó optimalizálást jelent (még akkor is, ha ezek az algoritmusok közvetlenül nem ismerhetők meg, mivel publikusnak nem publikusak, de az internet jelenségeinek figyelése által, természetesen intelligens szoftvereket is segítségül hívva, meglehetős pontossággal következtetni lehet a mibenlétükre, amit mindössze az nehezít meg némileg, hogy az említett „keresőprogram király” által használt algoritmusok napi szinten, időnként akár naponta többször is változnak, bővülnek, finomodnak). Tehát hazánkban ma a Google SEO idejét éljük.

                A nagyvilágban a Google-n kívül létező jelentősebb keresőprogramok közül érdemesnek tartjuk megemlíteni a Binget, ami nem kisebb cégnek, mint a Microsoftnak a keresőprogramja, és elsősorban az Egyesült Államokban népszerű; az internet ősidejéből sok magyar által is jól ismert Yahoot; valamint az Ask.com-t és az AOL-t.

                És végül szeretnénk megemlíteni egyet a nyugati világon kívüli, de hozzánk közel eső országok domináns keresőprogramjai közül, mégpedig az Oroszországban egyeduralkodó Yandexet, ami tulajdonképpen nem más, mint az ottani Google.
